Misplaced Faith 4

Acts 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them (the Gentiles) witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; (the Jews) 9 And put no difference between us and them, PURIFYING THEIR HEARTS BY FAITH.

Only our Creator can purify our hearts. Another description of what God does when we receive Jesus is that we become His workmanship.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 FOR WE ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 FOR IT IS GOD WHICH WORKETH IN YOU both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that HE WHICH HATH BEGUN A GOOD WORK IN YOU perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

He keeps working in us until He takes us to be with Jesus forever. None of these things can be done to us or for us by mortal men. These truths can seem very complicated. God’s divine power does all the complicated things. For us it is simply a gift that makes us the new creatures that God wants us to be and meets all of our needs. He alone knows what we need and He alone is able to provide it.

To be continued.
